The NICU Stress Lab offers current and past research associated with psychological birth trauma as well as information and resources discussing the prevalence, risk factors, consequences, and promising interventions related to postpartum depression and posttraumatic stress/disorder.

Study purposes:

  1. To explore the mental health of mothers with infants admitted into a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and
  2. To evaluate the effectiveness of expressive writing on the reduction of symptoms of depression and post-traumatic stress

Who can participate in the current study?

Mother- 18 years of age and older; US resident; and speaks, reads, and writes English

Infant- currently in NICU, or was in NICU for a minimum of 1 week; 28 days old to 5 years of age
